“Studio G” Art by Danny Neece

Through the month of September 2020

Watercolors and drawings are on display at the JackKnife Gallery by artist Danny Neece. The show is an accumulation of art Danny produced during his first year at JackKnife Studios. With his background in illustration, Danny’s art has a strong draftsman-like quality. Nature is present in his work, both representationally and impressionistically. There is a technicolor quality that resonates with Danny-- as a kid growing up in the 80’s he loved bright colors that captured moods and unique color palettes, evoking a certain moment in time.

As this year progressed, drawing was his main medium for expressing nature as a thriving entity alive in the decay of past civilization. The art was influenced by a yearning for change in systems of oppression. Taking personal time to travel the Eastern Sierras gave Danny the inspiration to create such drawings, after visiting a ghost town and witnessing nature reclaiming the land.

Through his work Danny hopes to encourage a vivid look at change, and a sense of optimism that change will allow us to evolve into a brighter future.
