Caro Yagjian and Abigail Kane: Worthy Subjects
Nudists, furries, family photo albums, and snapshots of strangers and friends; these are a few of the subjects Caro Yagjian and Abigail Kane deem worthy of representation. Through paintings and photography, Kane and Yagjian explore their fascination with atypical and everyday scenes. Searching for eccentricity within the mundane, their obsession with hoarding photographs speaks to their curiosity about the human experience. In "Worthy Subjects," Kane and Yagjian pull moments from obscurity and place them into focus, allowing viewers to project their unconscious associations upon the work. The photographs, used with or without permission, are a means to an end, vessels for study and memorialization.
Closing reception: Saturday September 24, 6pm - 9pm.
