For the last couple of months I have been working on a new body of work called "The Unconscious". These new paintings have all been inspired by West Oakland from train containers, boxcars to surfaces that are changing constantly every day. My work is focused around experimenting with recreating the aged, decayed, layered surfaces around me. I believe that these aged surfaces tell a story and that they are a raw reflection of their environment—the aging is not premeditated. West Oakland has had a big impact in my work and I would love for you all to join me on my opening night on Saturday September 9th 4-7pm at JackKnife Studios in Oakland.
